When you roll on a conventional foam roller, a compressive force is generated. The amount of compression depends on the size of the contact patch between the roller and your skin. For a typical 6" diameter foam roller, that contact patch is large, so the amount of compression is small and the effect on deeper tissues is very limited.

To counter this limitation, athletes often progress to smaller and harder rollers, or even PVC pipe. A downside of that approach is that smooth, hard rollers don't conform to the shape of your body. While they may have the intended effect in some areas, they don't work well around bony areas - e.g. your pelvis, spine, and scapula.

RumbleRollers go deeper

In 2009, RumbleRoller forever changed foam rolling with the introduction of the first deep-tissue roller. It's high-profile bumps penetrate deeper into the muscle, and large inter-bump spaces provide room for soft tissue displacement. Furthermore, the bumps' resilience enables them to deflect around bones and get closer than ever to the source of your problem.

Digging

Like a deep-tissue massage

As you roll on a RumbleRoller, its firm but flexible bumps work like the thumbs of a massage therapist to knead and stretch your muscles. This action erodes trigger points, helps restore flexibility, and brings quick relief to common types of muscular pain.

Rock and Roll

RumbleRoller's massaging action can be further intensified by switching from a rolling motion to a side-to-side rocking motion. The bumps provide a wiping-type massage pressure when rolling, but are more resistant to flexion when loaded sideways, and dig in even deeper. This RumbleRoller-exclusive feature is especially useful on dense muscles (e.g. your calves) and hard-to-roll areas (e.g. your upper lat).

Safe and Effective

All RumbleRoller materials have been tested by independent laboratories in accordance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 for lead and phthalates. The CPSIA considers these products to be safe for use by anyone, including children. All RumbleRoller products are also latex-free.

RumbleRoller's smooth, nonporous surface repels most dirt, is water-proof, and even includes a molded-in antimicrobial additive that helps prevent the growth of bacteria and fungus.

Long lasting value

RumbleRollers are of unparalleled quality, partly due to extensive material research and testing. For example, the outer shell of our roller is molded from a proprietary EVA/polyolefin blend with several times the strength, tear and abrasion resistance of conventional foam rollers.

Many of our competitors use a hollow plastic pipe for the core of their roller. That reduces their manufacturing cost, but also significantly reduces their roller's life. We use only solid high-density EVA foam cores, because they won't fatigue or crack over time, and provide a deep resilience that makes RumbleRoller respond better to your body.

For these reasons and more, your RumbleRoller is guaranteed to outlast and outperform any foam roller that you've ever used.
